Dedication Invitation

Dedication Invitation

You are cordially invited to join us as a distinguished guest on May 28th 2007 at 9:30 AM in Scott Park Omro, WI to commemorate the final dedication of the Omro Veterans Memorial. (Memorial Day Parade @ 9:00 AM)

It started with a dream that is nearly two decades old. At that time, several members of the Omro community felt that Omro, like other communities, needed a way to honor and remember all of its Veterans and especially those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

A little over two years ago, with the emergence of a new American Legion Post in Omro the dream of a Veterans Memorial was rekindled. Unfortunately, Omro’s loss of another one of its own, Brent Vroman, was the spark that ignited the dream again.  This time the community, businesses, organizations, and distant but faithful friends of the Omro area have shown their overwhelming support of the dream. After nearly two years of community fund raising and memorial construction the dream of having a Veterans Memorial in Scott Park is becoming a reality.

On Veterans Day 2005 during a brief ceremony at Scott Park, Post 234 Commander John Hoeft, declared the future site of the Veterans Memorial in Scott Park as “Sacred Ground.”  Ground that shall forever hold the remembrance of Omro’s fallen comrades and heroes.

On Veterans Day 2006 with the first phase of the construction completed by setting the memorial panels in place, the Post and community honored all Veterans by raising the American and POW flags for the first time.

We hope that you can join us May 28th for the Memorial Day parade at 9:00 AM followed by the final memorial dedication ceremonies at 9:30 AM. If you are able to attend, please contact Post 234 Commander John Hoeft at 920-685-0346 by May 23th.

Thank You,

The Omro Veterans Memorial Committee
