PFC Brent T. Vroman / United States Marine Corps

Brent T. Vroman died as a result of wounds suffered from combat with enemy
forces on Monday, December 13, 2004 in Yusufiyah, Iraq.  Brent is the
son of Bob Vroman and Pam DeGroot.  His twin brother, Brian, is a
Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and is here today.  Brent also has
an older brother Bob, and a younger sister, Ellie DeGroot.

Brent was a 2001 graduate of Omro High School.  He was very active in all sports,
with wrestling being his favorite.  His older brother, Bob was a
State Champion.  Brent was very friendly and always upbeat.  To know
Brent, was to love him.  He loved the outdoors with fishing and
hunting being special to him.  Through his friend, coach and mentor,
Scott Eckstein, Brent became a correctional officer and worked at the
New Lisbon Correctional Facility for only a few weeks before he was
called to active duty.  On Friday, November 3, 2006, the New Lisbon
Correctional Facility, in a dedication ceremony, named the facilities
training room in honor of Brent Vroman.  In July of 2006, Brent
posthumously received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for
distinguishing himself in battle.  His heroic action reflected on
Brent keeping with the highest tradition of the Marine Corps.

His death impacted our community to a point where the wheels turned faster and
this beautiful Memorial is the result.
