Jim was serving on Hicham Field in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. At the time he was in the 115th Heavy Bomb Group then resigned to the 500th Bomb Group. Jim served in the South Pacific Region. He was a mechanic on the Bombers, B-17's and B-29's.
